Those who knew Danny Gilbert,  knew that after his family, his great love in life was Beith football.  Every level of Beith football, be it Beith Juniors, Beith Amateurs, or Beith Community Football Club, owes a little bit of their success to the involvement of Danny Gilbert.  Danny followed Beith football with a passion.  He worked as a physio for Beith Juniors for many years, he was a founding member of Morrishill Boys Club which has since evolved into Beith Juniors Community FC and made a huge contribution to Beith Amateurs as a hard working committee member.   Danny was a passionate supporter at every level and he could often be found at Bellsdale,  Orrs Park Pitch or Beith Astro cheering on the Beith teams.   In latter years he took to being chauffeured to games so he could watch the Beith boys from the comfort of his daughter Christines cosy car.

To celebrate Dannys legacy, Beith Amateurs took on Kilbirnie Amateurs at Bellsdale on 9th May 2015 in the The Danny Gilbert Memorial 2015.  Christine and her family attended and presented the winning team with The Danny Gilbert Memorial Cup.
