Valley Thistle at the Top of Their Game!

Recently I got a chance to speak with Valley Thistle Manager, Raymond Dillon about the team and how they’re performing. Valley Thistle is an amateur football team from Ayrshire who’ve been on a bit of a hot streak lately –  in only their second season!  Last year Valley Thistle was in the top 6 and competed in the Wayne Bannerman Cup, this year and won’t settle for anything less than first.

Recently playing against Bobby’s Bar and winning a very tense penalty shootout this Sunday, they have guaranteed themselves a place in the finals!   The finals will be held 24th of April at Ardeer Stadium and they will be playing against Coach and Horses AFC, it should be an epic face off between two great teams!

At the moment Valley Thistle is also 3rd place is the West Ayrshire Sunday Amateur Football Association League.  When I asked Raymond if he could explain why he thinks they have done so well in their first 2 seasons he told me the “the hard work, commitment and positive attitude of all the players is the sole reason the team has made it this far”. I personally wish them luck for their showdown on the 24th and hope to see great things from the team in the future!
